Signing In with Signer Card: A step-by-step guide

Your device must support the NFC technology for you to be able to use the Signer Card to sign in to the Vault account and confirm transactions.

The minimum supported OS versions are:
- iOS 13 or later
- Android 5.1 or later

Follow the steps below if you are having issues signing in with your Vault Signer Card.

Step 1. Choose the 'Use Signer Card' option on the starting screen

Step 2. Choose the 'Scan Signer Card' option

To sign in with your Signer Card, you will need to scan the card first so the Vault app can recognize it.

Choose the 'Scan Signer Card' option and hold the Signer Card near the back of your device for a few seconds.

It is important to hold the Signer Card in the correct position close to the location of the NFC chip inside your device.

- The NFC chip is commonly located near the top bezel of Apple devices.

- Each Android device manufacturer places the NFC chip in the different places of the device's hardware.

- If you are having issues with the Vault app recognizing the card, verify the position of NFC chip for your device and then hold the card exactly near the chip for a few seconds.

The Vault app will notify you once the card is successfully scanned.

Step 3. Create a signer account (optional)

Skip this step if you've used the Signer Card to sign in before.

The highly-secure chip embedded into the Signer Card creates and holds a unique and uncopyable Vault signer account within the card itself.

The signer account is created once for each individual Signer Card, never leaves the chip and is never sent to any servers.

To create a signer account on a secure chip, choose the 'Create Signer Account' option and hold the Signer Card near the back of your device for a few seconds.

Same as before, make sure to hold the card in the correct position for several seconds until the confirmation appears.

Step 4. Choose the 'Sign In with Signer Card' option

At this step, your Signer Card should be fully configured and ready to be used as a signer.

Scan the Signer Card one more time to sign in to your Vault account.

That's it. You should be ready to sign transactions if your card already protects one or several accounts.

Otherwise, follow this guide if you are having trouble enabling multisig and using the Signer Card to protect your main Stellar account.
